New York Red Bulls 4, New York City FC 0 | US Open Cup 2018

Vincent Bezecourt put the New York Red Bulls up early in their U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round derby matchup with New York City FC, and Aaron Long sealed it after halftime in a 4-0 victory at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

With the midweek matchup necessitating domestic players in the XI, NYCFC turned to an untested 5-3-2 formation that couldn't crack the Red Bulls vaunted press, the second straight season NYC have been shut out at RBA in Open Cup play. Daniel Royer closed out the scoring, first on the counter for RBNY in the 87th minute off a pass from Alex Muyl, and then again in the 89th.

Ryan Meara continued his strong play in place of Luis Robles, notably making a 37th-minute save on not only Jonathan Lewis, but also David Villa on the rebound, with a sprawling, flutter-kick deflection that allowed Hassan Ndam to fly in for the goal-line clearance.
