One of New York City FC’s stars started 2019 with an unwelcome surprise.
Maxi Moralez took to Facebook on New Year’s Day to reveal that his home in Argentina was burglarized the night before, with thieves stealing a cache of items intended for donation.
The incident occurred at Moralez’s residence in Fray Luis Beltran, a community located north of Rosario in his native province of Santa Fe.
“I wanted to tell you that I got into my house last night and they stole everything, everything,” wrote Moralez in Spanish, checking himself in as “feeling annoyed” on the social network. “These things I'm missing were all to donate (boots, clothes, sneakers, shirts) plus appliances, tools etc. Starting the year like this leaves a bad taste because these things were to help [others].”
Moralez, 31, has been one of NYCFC's most important performers since joining the club as a Designated Player ahead of the 2017 season, notching 13 goals and 25 assists in 61 regular-season appearances (60 starts) as the conductor of the Cityzens' attack.
