New York City FC will announce their first front-office staff member at a Wednesday morning news conference, the newest MLS expansion club announced.
NYCFC – owned by English Premier League powers Manchester City FC and Major League Baseball's New York Yankees – are likely to name their director of football.
"Actually, we will appoint and we will create a whole new organization starting today," Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano told reporters at MLS headquarters in New York City on Tuesday. "So we'll have a director of football, we'll sign a coach and we'll sign the appropriate coach for the team.

"We don't know yet whether it's going to be American, or South American or English," Soriano added. "The first thing we will do is appoint the director of football because in the next 18 months we need to create a team from scratch. So to select players and we need to make sure when we start playing in April 2015, we have a competitive team."
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and MLS Commissioner Don Garber are also scheduled to attend the news conference on Wednesday morning at PS 72 Lexington Academy in Harlem.
