The New England Revolution look to stretch an unbeaten streak to nine games Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium when they host a Vancouver Whitecaps FC side that is winless in their last six, including three defeats in a row.
The Revs (6-8-6) moved to within two points of the playoff line in the Eastern Conference following a 2-2 draw against D.C. United Friday night at Audi Field. Teal Bunbury opened the scoring in the 4th minute and Carles Gil gave the visitors a two-goal lead in the 32nd minute. Leo Jara gave the Black-and-Red a lifeline two minutes before halftime and Quincy Amarikwa leveled in the 86th minute, a little more than 20 minutes after Wilfried Zahibo was sent off for his second bookable offense.
The Whitecaps (4-9-8) sit at the bottom of the Western Conference following a 3-0 home defeat to Sporting Kansas City Saturday night at BC Place. After an Ali Adnan own goal gave the visitors the lead in the 24th minute, Felipe Gutierrez made it 2-0 in the 56th minute and Gerso, who had a hand in all three goals, tacked on an insurance tally in second-half stoppage time. The Whitecaps have been outscored 10-1 in three consecutive defeats.
