The 2018 unbeaten start for FC Dallas remains intact, in large part thanks to Jacori Hayes, one of the team's most promising young players. Hayes' 76th-minute goal was enough to overcome being outpossessed and outshot by the New England Revolution; the Texan team won 1-0 on a cold Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
The teams played a lively but scoreless first half, with New England dominating posession, but with each team getting shots off, including solid chances near halftime. Revs goalkeeper Matt Turner did well to parry away a 40th-minute shot when Roland Lamah got loose for a one-on-one chance, and Jimmy Maurer equaled his counterpart on a 43rd-minute close range shot in traffic from Scott Caldwell.
Juan Agudelo came on as a halftime sub for Caldwell to add to the Revolution's attack, firing on goal repeatedly through the 2nd half. Diego Fagundez may have had the best chance of all for the Revs, though, with a 64th-minute shot from distance which just whizzed past the far post.
The Revolution also had a case for a penalty kick in stoppage time, but the referees didn't think the contact on Krisztian Nemeth from Matt Hedges inside the box warranted a chance to even things up from the spot.
It was ultimately Hayes, finishing on Lamah's assist with a nicely-sidefooted shot, who opened (and closed) the match's scoring.

- THE BIG PICTURE: New England suffered their first loss since the season opener against the Union, but are still among the top teams in the East. For Dallas, it's their second win of the season; those, added to three draws, place them in the mix of top teams in a wild, wild West.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: When Hayes stole the ball from Claude Dielna just outside the Revolution's 18, it looked like a good heads-up play to give Dallas a chance at a shot on goal. It ended up leading directly to the game's lone goal-scoring sequence. Watch Hayes' movement on the replay and marvel at how he stealthily stayed unmarked throughout.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: Hayes distinguished himself in a match where many of his teammates were having off-nights, though Lamah also earned MOTM consideration for a comparatively solid performance.
