A 2015 MLS expansion side drops in on a 2020 newcomer for a Friday night date, as NYCFC conclude their preseason match schedule against Nashville SC, the USL Championship side that will make the move to the top flight in a year's time.
Nashville SC
The Music City club, who just revealed their MLS brand, enter this game on the back of two straight preseason wins over USL counterparts, a 2-1 defeat of Louisville City FC at IMG Academy in Florida and a 3-0 win at Birmingham Legion FC.
Coach Gary Smith, who led the Colorado Rapids to the 2020 MLS Cup championship, is counting down to their USL Championship season opener vs. Loudoun United, D.C. United's new affiliate team, on March 9.
New York City FC
The Cityzens are winless thus far in preseason play, most recently losing 1-0 to Minnesota United and 2-1 to Orlando City in Orlando City Invitational play.
Coach Dome Torrent will likely be eager to see a more complete performance from his side in their last test before the 2019 season opener on March 2, another meeting with the Lions down in Orlando.
