Napoli moved into a three-way tie at the top of Serie A after a smash-and-grab victory at Lazio on Sunday afternoon.
A Sebastiano Siviglia own-goal condemned the Biancoceleste to a second consecutive defeat while the jubilant visitors now sit alongside Udinese and defending champions Internazionale at the summit.
There was danger for the home side early on as Walter Gargano played a free-kick into the box where a scrum ensued before the ball was finally cleared.
In the fifth minute, Lazio forward Mauro Zarate fired a first-time effort over the bar following a good slalom run into the area by Goran Pandev.
Lazio goalkeeper Juan Carrizo was almost called into action in the 23rd minute as Ezequiel Lavezzi grazed the right-post with a powerful daisy cutter from 18 yards.
German Denis had held the ball up nicely with his back to goal before setting up his strike partner Lavezzi.
League top-scorer Zarate missed a good chance to take his tally to seven goals in the 26th minute as he broke into the area before unleashing a right-footed strike from a good position but he couldn't keep his effort on target.
In the space of three minutes just before the half-hour mark both sides missed good chances to take the lead.
For the hosts, Zarate fired over before Pandev shot directly at Napoli goalkeeper Gennaro Iezzo while Lavezzi put a long-range shot into the stand.
Ten minutes before the break, the home crowd was left wondering how on earth they were not in the lead after Stefani Mauri was denied by a great save from Iezzo.
Pandev, on the right side of the penalty area, played the ball to Mauri at the far post who looked certain to score but Iezzo somehow managed to stop his shot with his left-foot.
The hosts enjoyed the majority of the chances in an entertaining first half although the Azzurri came within a whisker of taking the lead just before half-time as Gargano rattled the Biancoceleste crossbar with a free-kick from 20 yards.
Three minutes after the restart, Iezzo was again called into action as he did well to rush out and collect a dangerous Pandev ball that was destined for Christian Manfredini on the edge of the area.
Lavezzi and Denis were their usual lively selves throughout as the former set up the latter in the 58th minute. Denis fired first time from around the penalty spot but it was straight at the on-rushing Carrizo.
The visitors took the lead on the hour-mark following a spot of bad luck for Lazio defender Siviglia.
The stopper deflected a powerful Lavezzi cross from the left side of the penalty area into his own net with his thigh.
Lazio substitute Simone Inzaghi looked to put his side back on level terms with less than 10 minutes remaining as he latched on to a Cristian Ledesma free-kick in the area but Azzurri defender Leandro Rinaudo closed down the danger.
With four minutes of normal time remaining Lazio were unlucky not to find an equaliser after Pandev saw a shot touched onto the bar by substitute Partenopei goalkeeper Nicolas Navarro who replaced the injured Iezzo.
Inzaghi then fired the rebound over the bar in acrobatic style but the Aquilotti's response wasn't enough as the visitors held on to take all three points.
