MVP Ladder: The Ladder returns for 2015, who holds the top spot after the first month?

The MVP Ladder is back.

Towards the end of the 2014 season we had 10 of MLSsoccer.com's editors vote on who they think deserves to win the MVP. We have brought it back for the 2015 season, this time on a monthly basis (at least until September).

It was an exciting first month of the season as stars led their teams to victories all across the league. The five players below stood out the most amongst all of these players, according to editors.

Here's how the rankings are determined: 10 of MLSsoccer.com's editors were polled for their top five MVP candidates, as of this month. Their votes were aggregated, resulting in the list below.

Five points were given to a player who received a first-place vote, four to a second-place vote, three to a third-place vote, two for a fourth-place vote, and one point was given if a player received a fifth-place vote.

NOTE: This voting in no way reflects the voting of the Landon Donovan MVP Award.
