The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday that midfielder Justin Mapp will undergo surgery on his left elbow to repair a dislocation and fracture suffered Saturday in Washington, during the second half of the team's season-opening loss against D.C. United. He is expected to be out for approximately four months.
Mapp suffered the injury in the 82nd minute of the game when he landed awkwardly on his arm moments after coming together with D.C.'s Bill Hamid as the goalkeeper saved his one-on-one attempt.

After arriving back in Montreal on Sunday, Mapp met with Montreal doctors Monday afternoon and is scheduled for surgery on Thursday.
Mapp, 30, just entered his fourth season with the Impact, where he has continue to be one of the premier wingers in MLS. He will remain one game shy of 300 regular-season appearances for the time being, with 22 goals and 65 assists to his name since entering the league as a Project-40 player in 2002 with D.C. United.
