- St. Louis CITY SC made history of its own, becoming just the third team in league history to hold their opponents scoreless in each of their first four games of a season.

Whitecaps Continue Winning Ways
The hottest team in Major League Soccer resides in the Pacific Northwest, as Vancouver Whitecaps FC improved to 4-0-0 on the season with a 1-0 road victory over FC Dallas on Saturday night. In addition to their early-season MLS success, the Whitecaps also advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, knocking off LIGA MX powerhouse CF Monterrey in the Round of 16 earlier this week.
After a scoreless first half, Whitecaps defender Tristan Blackmon got the club on the board with a goal in the 54th minute (Watch Here), as he hammered a strong header past the Dallas ‘keeper after a sensational cross from J.C. Ngando. One goal was enough, as the Whitecaps earned the hard-fought victory to become just the seventh team in MLS history to earn 12 points in their first four matches of a season and the first since 2023 St. Louis CITY SC.
Vancouver will return home to BC Place on Matchday 5 as they aim to keep their scorching start alive against Chicago Fire FC (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+).

St. Louis Extends Shutout Streak to Four
Despite losing MLS All-Star goalkeeper and reigning MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra Roman Bürki to an injury in training, St. Louis CITY SC remained stingy on defense, as they once again held their opponent scoreless in a 1-0 victory over Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night. St. Louis is one of seven unbeaten teams in MLS through Matchday 4.
Under defensive-minded, first-year head coach Olof Mellberg, St. Louis has shut out its opponent in four consecutive matches to open the 2025 season, becoming the third team in league history to accomplish the feat. The two other clubs to reach that mark – 2012 Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the 2007 New York Red Bulls – advanced to the postseason in their respective seasons, and no team has recorded five consecutive clean sheets to open a season.
St. Louis will look to make history on Matchday 5 as they face off against their former manager, Bradley Carnell, and the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+).

Sporting KC Steals Point After Erasing Three-Goal Deficit
A match that looked to be a disappointing loss quickly flipped on its head on Saturday night, as Sporting Kansas City roared back from a three-goal deficit with a trio of goals in the final third of the match to earn a hard-fought point in a 3-3 draw against Minnesota United FC (Watch Highlights Here).
The Loons raced to an early lead, as a screamer from Hassani Dotson in the 15th minute (Watch Here) and a pair of goals from Canadian Men’s National Team standout Tani Oluwaseyi in the 31st and 46th minutes powered the Loons strong start.
Facing a 3-0 deficit in the 68th minute, forward Dániel Sallói got Sporting KC on the board under snowy skies following a sensational lob from Tim Leibold to cut the margin to two (Watch Here). A Minnesota own goal narrowed the gap even further in the 72nd minute before newly acquired striker Dejan Joveljić leveled the score for good in the 80th minute after a beautiful pass from Manu García (Watch Here). Saturday’s draw marked the first time in club history that Sporting Kansas City had erased a three-or-more-goal deficit to earn a point.
The draw sealed the first point of the year for Kansas City, which will look to keep their momentum on Matchday 5, as they welcome LAFC to Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

Steffen Stands on His Head, Records 12 Saves
Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Zack Steffen stole the show in a sensational back-and-forth battle on Saturday night, as the USMNT-bound ‘keeper made a career-high 12 saves in an electric 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes (Watch Highlights from Steffen’s Performance).
Facing a barrage of shots from the San Jose attack all night, perhaps no save was bigger than in the 85th minute with the Rapids clinging to a 2-1 lead. San Jose forward Josef Martínez had a clear path to goal, but Steffen stopped the shot with a strong right hand to preserve the lead and the victory. Steffen’s 12 saves were the second-most in a single game in Colorado Rapids history, behind only Scott Garlick’s 13-save effort on July 4, 2001 against D.C. United.
The Rapids (8 points, 2-0-2) are off to a strong start in 2025 and currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference after going unbeaten through the first four matches of a season for the first time in club history. The club will look to keep its unbeaten start alive next week as Colorado welcomes the Portland Timbers to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night (9:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).

Charlotte FC Wins Battle of the Queen Cities
In a battle between two cities that identify as the “Queen City,” Charlotte FC put on a show in front of its home supporters and announced their Eastern Conference contention with a strong 2-0 victory over FC Cincinnati on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, Charlotte tallied two scores in quick succession, first off the foot of Liel Abada in the 48th minute (Watch Here) before United States Men’s National Team forward Patrick Agyemang doubled the lead just three minutes later (Watch Here). Reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Kristijan Kahlina was a brick wall in goal for Charlotte, notching eight saves on the night and keeping a clean sheet.
The victory was Charlotte’s fifth consecutive regular season home win, marking the longest streak in club history and the longest active home winning streak in MLS. The club will continue its homestand next Saturday as it welcomes San Jose to Bank of America Stadium on Matchday 5 (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
