Juan Agudelo is off to a strong start in 2013. And on Monday, he claimed the MLS Player of the Week award for Week 4 for his impactful performance in Chivas USA's 4-1 rout of the Chicago Fire on Sunday.
Agudelo set up the game's opener with a fine pass to Edgar Mejía in the 57th minute, and the young US national team forward then went from provider to scorer when he netted an insurance goal in the 75th. Agudelo raced onto a long bal played over the top, shouldered Fire midfielder Jeff Larentowicz off the ball and slipped a curling shot to the far post past a helpless Paolo Tornaghi. The goal was the Goats forward's second of the season, putting him well on pace to top his career-high of six this year for a Chivas USA team that is surprising many.
The last time a Chivas player won a POTW award was in early 2012, when goalkeeper Dan Kennedy took the Week 6 honors.
