It was a double dutch week in MLS Fantasy, as all four teams that were on a double game week contributed someone to the Dream Team.
Defenders led the way this round, with a bevy of 1-0 scorelines over the last two weekends. The Vancouver Whitecaps shut out both their opponents over their 180 minute span, which had goalkeeper David Ousted ($6.1m) at 19 points as co-point leader for the week. New England defender Chris Tierney ($8.1m) also was good for 19 points, with a goal and a shutout.
The Whitecaps’ defensive unit took up three spots on the Dream Team, with FC Dallas joining them with three spots of their own. The team’s forward Maxi Urruti ($8.7m) was the lone standout in his position the list, which he accomplished with only one goal.
One place where offense did shine was Orlando, where KakĂ¡ ($10.7m) had two assists and a goal in his triumphant return from injury on April 3. He was joined by teammate Kevin Molino ($8.1m) who picked up a number of new bonuses as well as a goal.
The fantasy Team of the week goes to Francis Cote and his Les Impacts. The Impacts' 4-4-2 was chock full of Dream Teamers, including both Ousted and Tierney. Enjoy your prize!
The Company You Keep
It’s back to business as usual this week, but in Round 6 there are six teams doing the double as we have our first Wednesday matchday of the season on April 13. Stick with those FC Dallas studs, and pay a mind to the Rapids, Red Bulls, Timbers, Earthquakes, and Sporting KC when making transfers this week.
I’m also keeping an eye on a pair of goalkeepers who have stepped up in injury duty. Matt Lampson ($4.6m) on the Fire and Brian Rowe ($4.7m) on the Galaxy are both valued at under $5. Lampson and Rowe both managed clean sheets over the weekend, so if you need a low cost option at your keeper spot go for it.
How’d you do this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
