A pair of in-form Western Conference foes squads square off at Allianz Field Sunday when Minnesota United host the Portland Timbers.
Minnesota United (10-7-5) sit in fifth in the West following a 0-0 draw at home against Vancouver Whitecaps FC last Saturday that extended an unbeaten streak to six games. Vito Mannone was stellar with five saves and the Loons whipped in 37 crosses, but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Timbers (9-8-4) are unbeaten in six straight and moved above the playoff line in the Western Conference following a 4-0 win over the LA Galaxy at Providence Park Saturday. Cristhian Paredes scored a brace, Diego Valeri netted a stunner late in the first half and Jeremy Ebobisse tacked on a late insurance goal in the decisive victory.
