Saturday is going to be a special moment, as Minnesota United plays their first match at Allianz Field. Loons supporters are prepared to match the festivities with quite the tifo.
The Loons face New York City FC (5 pm ET | ESPN2 in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada) for their home opener in their new cathedral. Their supporters – 150 volunteers – will unveil a tifo of 20,000 square feet, per the Star Tribune.
“It’s hard to explain the sheer size to people who have never seen a tifo,” Angela Piotrowski, volunteer coordinator for the project, told the Star Tribune. “They think it’s a small banner.”
