US national team manager Gregg Berhalter inserted Michael Bradley into his starting XI at his home club stadium while also slotting Josh Sargent into the striking role for a second straight game in Tuesday night's Concacaf Nations League tilt against Canada at BMO Field.
Meanwhile, Canada national team coach John Herdman kept Lucas Cavallini on the bench, a move that allows him to push Alphonso Davies into the midfield.
Bradley did not play in Thursday's 7-0 win over Cuba in Washington, and Berhalter would not say in the buildup to Tuesday if he would supplant Jackson Yueill in the No. 6 role at the stadium where he serves as Toronto FC captain.
Sargent did play against Cuba, scoring a goal and playing the full 90 minutes as the US cruised. In the process, he apparently earned another start in front of Columbus Crew SC forward Gyasi Zardes.
Berhalter made four changes in total from his XI on Thursday, slotting in Aaron Long in place of Matt Miazga at center back and DeAndre Yedlin at right back. As expected, Zack Steffen was in goal after Brad Guzan played there Thursday.
Cavallini had started in three of Canada's four matches during their run to the Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinals.
In order to make room for Canada's other attacking pieces, Herdman had dropped Davies into a left back role in that tournament. But he was listed on the left side of the midfield Tuesday.
