A new season for the MetroStars kicks off Friday with the 2006 MLS SuperDraft at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
Head coach Mo Johnston and president and general manager Alexi Lalas will be looking to add some depth in their first draft in charge of the team, including two picks in the first two rounds (seventh and 18th overall).
The draft will begin at 12 p.m. ET and continue for approximately three hours. The first hour will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channell and MLSnet.com, with the remainder airing exclusively on MLSnet.com.
In addition to the new players, MetroStars fans in attendance will get the first look at the new adidas MetroStars jersey. The new uniform will be officially unveiled along with the other 11 adidas MLS uniforms for 2006 and the official adidas MLS ball in a ceremony at 11 a.m. ET. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase some of the new gear during the draft. Entry to the draft is free.
MetroStars supporters clubs have been allocated 50 spots, and those who RSVP will get to participate in a special pre-draft terrace rally. Supporters will also get a free MLS/adidas shirt. Priority goes to members of the three MetroStars supporters clubs listed below, but all MetroStars fans are welcome and encouraged to attend.
