The Montreal Impact already have Didier Drogba and one of the MLS Golden Boot leaders in Ignacio Piatti.

They want more to bolster the attack.

Impact head coach Mauro Biello confirmed on Tuesday that the club is in talks with forward Matteo Mancosu, a 31-year-old Italian forward who has experience both in Serie A and Serie B. Biello told reporters the parties were in contact but nothing was yet confirmed. Meanwhile, a report early on Tuesday claimed Mancosu would sign a one-year deal and arrive in Quebec on Wednesday.

Mancosu just finished his first season in Italy's top flight, suiting up for Bologna before being loaned to Carpi. He made 21 league appearances and scored two goals (one for each side).

Prior to moving up to Serie A, Mancosu spent time with Bologna in Serie B. He also represented Trapani and Vigor Lamezia, in Italy's lower tiers. His breakout season came during the 2013-14 campaign, when he scored 26 goals in 40 games for Trapani.

The Impact are no strangers to signing players from Italy. Marco Donadel is a member of the current squad, and previous Italian acquisitions include Marco Di Vaio and Alessandro Nesta.
