Toronto FC defender Marvell Wynne returned to full training on Thursday and will be in the squad for Saturday's match at Chivas USA (live on Sportsnet at 10:30 p.m.). The 23-year-old United States international missed the win over D.C. United last week with a hamstring strain sustained in training.
"It is always good to get back on the pitch," said Wynne after training indoors at Oakville Soccer Centre on Thursday. "Whenever you are on the sidelines just doing rehab you always miss being out there. To be able to be back training and get a feel of the ball again is great and it will be good to be involved on Saturday after missing last week's match. We know how tight the table is with a lot of teams around 30 points so we have to pick up as many points as possible."
Former San Jose Earthquakes defender Nick Garcia is also fit again following a calf strain but captain Jim Brennan will miss the match through suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the win over D.C. United. Chad Barrett is available after a one match ban and Haiti international Lesly Fellinga can now be included in the squad after receiving international clearance following his move to Toronto last week.
Toronto Coach Chris Cummins handed three rookies a first MLS start last week in a team that included seven players under the age of 24. He is still considering a number of different combinations before settling on his line-up to start at the Home Depot Center.
"I'm not sure if we can go away and play 3-5-2 because we might be too open, so I might change the formation," said Cummins. "We have looked at different shapes and different personnel in training and we will have a game plan and stick to it. There is enough ability in the team to score goals and we need to make sure we are as solid defensively as we were last week."
"You need to have the right mix of youth and experience. I'm not going to put 11 young lads out there because you do need experience. Going away from home is completely different to playing at home and I will take that into consideration when picking the team."
