Inbeom Hwang was one of the most intriguing MLS additions ahead of the 2019 season, the Korean midfielder joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC after rumored interest from European clubs.
With Vancouver nearing the halfway point of the season, however, Hwang could be in line for a break soon.
It's not because he's playing badly. The creative midfielder has a goal and two assists in 15 appearances so far, as Marc Dos Santos' rebuilding project is starting to bear fruit, the Whitecaps losing just once in their last seven games.
But the 22-year-old is nearing a necessary break by virtue of his workload, according to Dos Santos.
According to Goal.com's Steve Han on Twitter, Dos Santos indicated Hwang "has [had] no break" since March 2018.
But, Dos Santos vows that once Hwang returns from upcoming international duty for South Korea, he'll get a full four days off for now, as he monitors his load.
The Whitecaps will next be in action on Friday when they host Toronto FC as part of MLS Friday Night on TSN (10 pm ET | TSN1/4 — Full TV & streaming info).
