Paced by a well-struck goal and 90-plus hard-charging minutes of hard work from Maximiliano Urruti, FC Dallas held Los Angeles Football Club to a 1-1 draw on a hot Los Angeles Saturday afternoon in the second match at Banc of California Stadium.
The home side were superior in the first half and carved out a deserved lead when Steven Beitashour ranged forward to net an angled finish under goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer in the early going. But LAFC failed to build on that solid start, allowing Dallas to haul themselves onto level terms after the break.
Taking full advantage of Laurent Ciman's overeager step forward, Urruti pivoted past the Belgian center back and drilled a crisp low blast into the right side of the net. While LAFC labored in search of a late winner, driven on by debutant Lee Nguyen, the late drama that powered last week's home-opening win over Seattle did not materialize.

THE BIG PICTURE
: Nguyen's bright showing after
his deadline-day trade from New England
underlined LAFC's wealth in attack. If no one finishes off the many chances they create, though, they'll drop points like this again, especially against canny visitors like FCD.
