The Houston Dynamo announced on Wednesday that midfielder Tony Cascio suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee and had surgery on the injury.
The 24-year-old, on loan from the Colorado Rapids for the 2014 season as part of the intraleague loan system, is expected to miss the rest of the season.
It is unclear when the injury occurred.
Cascio has played in five matches this season for the Dynamo, including four starts. In his third season in MLS, the University of Connecticut product has scored four goals and three assists in 47 league appearances.
