LAFC have already been adding their name to the MLS record books throughout their expansion season, but they are on the verge of adding themselves to another mark in league history.
Fresh off clinching their berth in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs, becoming the fifth expansion team in MLS history to reach the postseason in their first year, LAFC are on 53 points through 31 games, the third-best mark for a first-year team.
With three more points clinched across their final three games of the 2018 regular season, LAFC will have the all-time points record for an expansion team, shared with the 1998 Chicago Fire, who of course were also coached by Bob Bradley.
If LAFC earn seven points, they will surpass the Fire in terms of points per game average, 1.76 to Chicago's 1.74, although it's worth noting Chicago's first season came during the shootout era of the league's history.
LAFC have 15 wins, the second-most of any expansion team, and tied for the most by a first-year club after the end of the shootout era (since 2000), equaling the 15 wins for Atlanta United last season. LAFC also currently have the best winning percentage of any expansion team.
