Sporting Kansas City won their second consecutive road game and became the first opponent to beat LAFC at Banc of California Stadium, with a 2-0 victory on Saturday.
Sporting got the scoring started in the 17th minute, as Gerso Fernandes took a feed from Diego Rubio and fired a shot inside the far post.
Sporting doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark, as Felipe Gutierrez won a penalty after being kicked in the ear by LAFC defender Dejan Jakovic. Ilie Sanchez converted the spot kick to make it 2-0.
LAFC's attack finally started to find some traction in the final 15 minutes, but Sporting goalkeeper Tim Melia came up big to make some key stops and preserve the shutout for the visitors.

Three Things
- THE BIG PICTURE: Sporting build some rhythm and move up to second place in the West, albeit against a heavily rotated LAFC side. The hosts will be disappointed to see their home unbeaten run end, but with the games coming thick and fast, Bob Bradley had little choice but to rotate.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: The opening goal was a great combination of teamwork and individual skill.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: Ilie continued his good run from the penalty spot and absolutely dominated LAFC's overmatched midfield in controlling the run of play.
