The LA Galaxy are connecting past and present with their new third jersey.
Unveiling the new design over the weekend, the new jersey, as designed by Galaxy fan Carlos Rodriguez and elected as the fans' choice, incorporates the colors used in the original 1996 Galaxy jersey, with green, yellow and red on a black base, making for an eye-catching combination of 1996 and 2013 styles.

The green, yellow and red colors are significant in that they are the colors on the City of Los Angeles flag. Although the regular Galaxy home and away jerseys do not currently incorporate those colors, the third jersey is intended to provide a link both to the past and also to the location of the team.
The jersey was modeled by A.J. DeLaGarza and Robbie Keane, but it won't be worn on the field in a game until August 17, when LA take on Real Salt Lake.
