TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Signing
The LA Galaxy have added experience and steel to their midfield, as they announced the signing of veteran Servando Carrasco on Thursday.
The 29-year-old joins the Galaxy via the Re-Entry Draft from Orlando City SC, where he spent the past two-and-a-half seasons. Reaching a career-high 31 MLS regular season appearances in 2016 with the Lions, he played 15 regular season games there last year, although he did score his first goal in league play in 2017 after four scoreless seasons.
“Servando has extensive MLS experience and brings depth to our squad,” said LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid in a team statement. “We’re excited to welcome Servando to the Galaxy.”
The holding midfielder has also played for Sporting Kansas City, the Houston Dynamo and the Seattle Sounders in his professional career, which began in 2011.
Joining the Galaxy represents a homecoming of sorts for Carrasco, as the Cal product grew up in the greater Southern California region, dividing his youth between San Diego and Tijuana.
