Major League Soccer and sports drink BODYARMOR kicked off their multi-year partnership with a star-studded unveiling at Banc of California Stadium Wednesday morning.
NBA legend Kobe Bryant, a BODYARMOR investor, joined several MLS players, including Philadelphia Union captain Alejandro Bedoya, Nico Lodeiro of the Seattle Sounders and Lucas Zelarayan of Columbus Crew SC to unveil a customized 4-foot tall replica bottle of BODYARMOR created exclusively to commemorate the league’s 25th season.
“Given the exciting growth of Major League Soccer as a whole and seeing the impact that each team has within their community, we couldn’t be more thrilled to expand our partnership to include 19 MLS clubs,” said Bryant. “As a go-to option for those in need of hydration, we’re excited for the opportunity to provide better-for-you options to Major League Soccer’s world-class athletes both on and off the pitch.”
MLS and BODYARMOR also announced a new youth soccer initiative, which starts this season, and hosted 15 players from the LAFC Under-12 Academy for a skills challenge on-field at the stadium.
In September, BODYARMOR was announced as the “Official Sports Drink” of Major League Soccer and has since announced exclusive team partnerships with 19 different MLS clubs. It is the largest multi-year partnership in the sports drink’s history.
In addition to hydrating MLS players, the BODYARMOR logo and branding will be on coolers, cups, squirt bottles and towels on MLS sidelines within the territory starting in 2020.
Now the No. 2 sports drink sold in convenience stores nationwide, BODYARMOR just recently eclipsed $700 million in retail sales in 2019.
