Welcome to some hallowed ground, Kei Kamara.
With a 9th-minute goal in the Colorado Rapids’ trip to Orlando City SC, the veteran striker became fifth all-time in the Major League Soccer goal-scorers column. The goal gave him 115, jumping one ahead of Ante Razov, who’s now an assistant coach for LAFC.
Kamara, 34, was acquired by Colorado via trade ahead of the 2019 season after he was selected in the Expansion Draft by FC Cincinnati. That ensured the Sierra Leone native is now on his seventh MLS club, tied for most in league history.
To make another push up the ranks, Kamara will need quite the season with the Rapids. He already has three goals through five games and change.
Below are the top-10 all-time goal leaders in MLS. The only player ahead of him is San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski, who is one goal away from tying Landon Donovan for the pole position.
- Landon Donovan – 145
- Chris Wondolowski – 144
- Jeff Cunningham – 134
- Jaime Moreno – 133
- Kei Kamara – 115

- Jason Kreis – 108
- Bradley Wright-Phillips – 107
- Dwayne De Rosario – 104
