New York Red Bulls coach Chris Armas made several chances to his starting XI for the club’s MLS home opener against the San Jose Earthquakes Saturday afternoon.
The biggest move was leaving Kaku out of the gameday 18-man roster.
The playmaking midfielder has been a regular starter since arriving prior to last season from Club Huracan in Argentina. He’s not injured and a club spokesman said it’s a “coach’s decision.”
