It was a decent week for Justin Meram, who was named MVP of the International Friendship Championship between Iraq, Syria and Jordan.
The Columbus Crew SC winger was on international duty with Iraq, where he scored once as his team won the friendly tournament, clinched Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Jordan.
Meram, 30, has made two starts for the Crew so far in 2019 and has yet to score or assist. In 2017, he enjoyed his best season as a pro, with 13 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances with the Crew.
The Crew, coming off a 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union last weekend, host Atlanta United on Saturday (7:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, DAZN in Canada).
