It's the end of an era for one of Real Salt Lake's stalwarts.

Midfielder Javier Morales announced his departure from the club in a message on his Twitter account on Thursday. It is currently unclear what he plans to do next.

Morales, 36, just completed his 10th season in MLS, all with RSL, following the Utah side's elimination from the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs in the Knockout Round.

At his peak considered possibly the best playmaker in MLS of the era, Morales helped RSL win the 2009 MLS Cup and has been named an MLS All-Star three times (2009, 2010, 2013). In 2011, Morales suffered a brutal ankle injury while being tackled by an opposing player and missed most of the season, but eventually recovered and continued to be productive for his team.

During his time with RSL, Morales amassed 49 goals and 81 assists over 240 regular-season games, plus three goals and nine assists in 20 playoff appearances.
