Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is confident Adriano will remain at the Serie A club despite reported interest from Chelsea and Flamengo.
The Brazilian striker, who is currently in his homeland recovering from a thigh injury, has been linked with a move away from the San Siro in January after struggling for form and fitness over the past three seasons.
"Without a doubt, Adriano will return to us," said Moratti. "My hope is that he recovers as soon as possible from the muscular problem and that he returns to do what he has and can do with us."
The 26-year-old impressed in pre-season training earlier this year after returning to Italy following a six-month loan spell with Sao Paulo in his native Brazil, where he was sent to rediscover his confidence and fitness.
He has scored one goal in seven league appearances for the Nerazzuri this season.
Flamengo claim fresh talks with Adriano agent
Flamengo vice-president Kleber Leite has confirmed the club are holding fresh talks with Adriano's agent Gilmar Rinaldi.
And the vice-president of football is optimistic about signing the Inter Milan striker despite Rinaldi being more cautious.
Leite confirmed he had received a phone call from Rinaldi during the media conference to unveil their new head coach Alexi Stival 'Cuca'.
"I've just received a phone call from Gilmar Rinaldi when I was coming here and there is a mutual interest by both parties. We want Adriano at Flamengo and he wants to come back," said Leite optimistically.
"He is flying back to Italy as a representative of Flamengo to see what possibilities there are to sign Adriano.
"Gilmar is authorized to tell Inter Milan that we want the player, obviously within limits."
However, Rinaldi is more cautious and believes the move will not happen.
He told GloboEsporte.com: "I just called him to say that if there is a possibility I will communicate, but there is no chance today, zero. I can say in advance that there is no possibility.
"Maybe it seems I don't want to help. I respect Kleber and Flamengo, always.
"I called him just to describe the situation. He called me 15 days ago and if I have anything I will tell him."
