In the unpredictable world of stadium construction projects, Inter Miami CF fans heard those magical two words when it comes to the club’s Fort Lauderdale stadium.
“On time.”
“Eight months ago people told me you would never get this finished,” club co-owner Jorge Mas proclaimed Tuesday. “They told me there was no chance. But here we are, this stadium will be completed for our home debut on March 14th.”
Mas and fellow owner David Beckham surprised 400 employees with a private lunch before gathering them on the field to personally thank them for their efforts in getting the Inter Miami CF Stadium on track.
"I believe anything can happen if you work hard, but I looked out and I thought 'wow this needs to be built really quick,'" Beckham said. "And you guys are doing that. Nothing goes unnoticed with the hard work that you're doing, the passion that you're doing it with as well. What's being created here, it really is a miracle."
A month after installing the first roof structure, the stadium is taking shape a little more than three months before Inter Miami meet the LA Galaxy.
That is being billed as the matchup between David Beckham’s former team and his hew one. Beckham, who is part of the ownership group, took in the progress with Mas on Tuesday.
Just as the club’s roster continues to grow, with Monday’s announcement of free agent signings Luis Robles and A.J. DeLaGarza, their stadium continues its growth.
