TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
Inter Miami have acquired defender Patrick Seagrist in a trade with the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a third-round pick at the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, the clubs announced Wednesday. RBNY could receive up to $50,000 General Allocation Money if performance-based incentives are met.
Seagrist, 22, was a first-round pick in the 2020 SuperDraft. He is primarily a left back and started three games with the Red Bulls in 2020.
“Everyone at the club thanks Patrick for his efforts, he handled himself well while adjusting to life as a professional, and we wish him good luck in the next stage of his career,” Red Bulls head of sport Kevin Thelwell said in a club statement.
Prior to turning professional, Seagrist spent four yeras at Marquette. He made 63 appearances during his time on campus, with six goals and 16 assists as a defender.
Miami lost left back Ben Sweat in the Expanion Draft last week.
