Toronto FC announced Tuesday that forward Fuad Ibrahim has been selected to the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team domestic training camp roster.
Ibrahim, 17, will join up with the national team departing after Toronto FC's game against New England on May 23. He will return to the team and be available for selection for their match in Houston on Saturday May 30,
This is Ibrahim's first selection of 2009, as U.S. head coach Thomas Rongen selected a 20 man roster as he prepares his team for the FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in Egypt later this year. The squad has already qualified and has been drawn into Group C along with Germany, Cameroon, and Korea Republic. The first game for the U.S. will be September 26 against Germany.
The U.S. camp will be held in Sarasota, Florida and all games will take place at the Sarasota Polo Grounds in conjunction with the Development Academy Showcase. The team will participate in an intra-squad scrimmage on May 24, and play Costa Rica twice, on May 25 and 27.
Ibrahim is included in a group that boasts players from MLS, Europe and South America. Other MLS clubs that have players attending include FC Dallas (five), Houston Dynamo (one), and Chivas USA (two).
