Blaise Matuidi became the 12th World Cup winner to appear in MLS on Sunday night, playing 79 minutes as Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC played a scoreless draw.
The midfielder had an influential night, most notably starting a play that should have ended in a goal in the 8th minute.
"Obviously I'm a bit tired, it has been a few days, a few moments and I've played an official game, and only had two official team training sessions," said Matuidi after the match. "Nonetheless, happy about the overall game, the results are not necessarily the result the team was hoping for, but we'll keep working on this and get ready for the game against Atlanta."
He lined up in central midfield and mostly shaded towards the left side as you can see in his heat map below.
"I feel like he did a great job. He had a great game, despite the fact that he only had a few training sessions with the team," said Miami head coach Diego Alonso. "But he really showed his quality, his intelligence, to be able to help the team play better. And I think that will time he's going to be able to adapt and surely he's going to help us take a step forward and grow."
