Using CoTweet (www.cotweet.com), the Houston Dynamo have launched an official Twitter page featuring contributions from players, executives, and Dynamo Girls, the team announced today.
Through the use of CoTweet, a new business collaboration platform for Twitter, multiple members of the Dynamo organization will be able to post on the Dynamo feed, available at Twitter.com/HoustonDynamo. So far, contributors include midfielder Stuart Holden, defender Bobby Boswell, Chief Operating Officer Chris Canetti, Senior Vice President Rocky Harris, and mascot Dynamo Diesel. The Dynamo are the first Major League Soccer team to use CoTweet on their Twitter site.
"Teams and athletes are looking for new and exciting ways to deepen their relationship with fans through social media," said Jesse Engle, CEO of CoTweet. "The Dynamo are on the cutting edge in how they use Twitter to connect with fans, and we're proud to play a key role in helping them manage those efforts."
"The Dynamo organization is always looking for ways to engage our fans, and we feel Twitter is a good medium to extend that interaction," Harris said. "Our partnership with CoTweet will allow us to provide insight from across the organization that fans won't be able to get anywhere else. We are transparent and open with our fans, and we plan to extend that attribute through our social media efforts."
The Dynamo continue their MLS season Friday night, taking on the Eastern Conference-leading Chicago Fire at 8:00 p.m. The game will be available on KHOU 11.2, TV Informa, 790 The Sports Animal, and 850 La Ranchera.
The Houston Dynamo are a Major League Soccer franchise that has won two MLS Cup championships in its first three seasons and represented the United States in three consecutive regional championships. Currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak, the Dynamo will travel to take on the Chicago Fire on Friday night before hosting first-place Chivas USA on Wednesday, June 10, at Robertson Stadium.
