It took 55 minutes and 18 shots for the Houston Dynamo to crack NTX Rayados 'keeper Eduardo Cortes in the 2018 U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round, and it was a Homegrown Player, forward Memo Rodriguez, who headed down a cross from Alejandro Fuenmayor to create a half-volley opportunity he sent into the back of the net. The 22-year-old -- who earned his first MLS start of the 2018 campaign this past weekend, in a 1-0 loss to Montreal -- tacked on a penalty strike in the 71st to complete the brace.
Aldo Quintanilla, making his Houston debut, sealed the match with a breakaway run in the 68th minute and completed a brace of his own just before the final whistle. Fellow debutant Matías Zaldívar added one in the 88th.
