Houston Dynamo 1, San Jose Earthquakes 1 | 2016 MLS Match Recap

On a hot Sunday night in Houston, the Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes played to a stalemate with goals coming from Alex and Chris Wondolowski.

Alex opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, weaving through the 'Quakes defense before curling a ball past David Bingham.

But they would not get their fifth win of the season because of Wondolowski. The former Dynamo striker got in between the Houston defense to one time a Cordell Cato cross. The goal was Wondoloski's ninth of the season and San Jose are now unbeaten in their last three games.

Box Score

Three Things

ADD THEM TO THE LIST: Chris Wondolowski has scored a lot of goals in MLS. 118 to be exact. But he had never scored against the Dynamo prior to Sunday night. That changed when he scored in the 59th minute to tie, 1-1.

The draw marked the Quakes' ninth, tied for the most of any team in the Western Conference.

  • THE ANSWER? Wade Barrett has built a solid foundation since taking over the job in June. The defense has been much improved but there's still an issue, where are the goals going to come from? Houston have scored just five goals in seven games under Barrett and the departure of Giles Barnes will certainly not fix the issue.

  • BINGHAM SHOW: Fresh off of his first AT&T MLS All-Star Game appearance, David Bingham showed why he was worthy of that selection against Houston. The 26-year-old made two fantastic saves to keep the Dynamo at bay, including this one just before stoppage time.
