A young Honduran midfielder appears to be heading to Utah, but he wonât be signing for Real Salt Lake.
A RSL spokesman confirmed on Sunday that Elder Torres will join the clubâs USL side, Real Monarchs, later this month at the teamâs preseason camp in Costa Rica. Contrary to a report out of Honduras, which stated that Torres would be joining the RSL first team, any deal that is reached would send the 20-year-old to the Monarchs.
Torres has played three seasons with Honduran club CDS Vida, and appeared in three games for the Honduras Under-23 team during their successful Olympic qualifying campaign last fall.
