American left back Edgar Castillo notched an assist in San Luis' 2-1 loss on Thursday to América, who played most of the match with 10 men.
The Las Cruces, N.M., native came on as a sub in the 67th minute and put his stamp on the game 11 minutes later, when he displayed his speed on the left flank and sent in a cross that Víctor Hugo Lojero headed into the net for a momentary draw.
Los Gladiadores were unlucky not to walk out of the match. Late in the game, the homse side saw two goals disallowed, including one in the 94th minute. Furthermore, a San Luis shot was saved off the line by an América defender at the 90-minute mark.
Despite the defeat, San Luis stayed atop Group 2 with 22 points.
