When Earthquakes midfielder and Bay Area native Kelly Gray was traded from Colorado back to San Jose in May, he welcomed it with open arms. On June 10, three weeks after his trade, Gray took time off from training to visit Montague Elementary School in Santa Clara.
As their school-year crosses the finish line, nearly 200 students were rewarded for their hard work with a surprise visit from Gray. He talked to the children about the importance of school and he also encouraged students to study hard and work with others to fulfill their dreams.
After Gray answered questions from the students, he rewarded them by showing them some soccer moves such as juggling, heading and dribbling. He also selected a student to participate with him.
At the end of the day, Gray signed autographs and talked to students one-on-one, leaving the children with a great memory as they head into their summer vacation.
