The Houston Dynamo have made it clear they're looking to sign an attacking player in the summer transfer window, and one player who could fit the bill is El Salvador forward Rodolfo Zelaya.
The club has been scouting Zelaya at this summer's Gold Cup, where the Salvadoran forward as scored four goals in four games. In addition to his impressive output, the attacker has shown the technical ability that MLS teams covet.
“Zelaya’s a player we’re tracking that we watched in the Gold Cup and watched in the friendly here in Houston,” said Dynamo president of business operations Chris Canetti in a phone conversation with MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday morning. “However, we’re looking at a wide range of players and haven’t narrowed down our list of targets at this point.”
With three weeks until the MLS transfer window opens on July 15, Canetti and head coach Dominic Kinnear have time to make player evaluations before figuring out who they will target. For now, though, Canetti indicated that while the focus is on finding the right fit for the club, he's optimistic that a deal will happen this summer.
