Gibbs receives national team call

U.S. Men's National Team head coach Bob Bradley announced Tuesday that Colorado Rapids defender CORY GIBBS is among the 25 players named to the training camp roster that will begin workouts January 4 at the U.S. Soccer's National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

The group will prepare for the USA's first match of 2009, a friendly against Sweden on January 24 at The Home Depot Center. The match will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision beginning at 6:30pm MT. Fans can also follow the game live via ussoccer.com's MatchTracker.

This will be Gibbs' second training camp stint with the U.S. Men's National Team in the past three months following a week-long camp with the team in November. He was also on the roster for the USA's 2-0 victory over Guatemala at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on November 19, but did not see any action.

The Florida native has 19 caps under his belt; all earned between 2003 and 2006 before a knee injury in the run up to the 2006 World Cup left him unable to accompany the team to Germany.
