River Plate 1, Palmeiras 0
In a tense, exciting matchup between natural South American rivals, River Plate continued their strong run in the tournament with a 1-0 semifinal win over Palmeiras.
After notching a hat trick on Wednesday, Enzo Zicarelli added to his tournament resume with the game's only goal in the 24th minute. Working on the left side of the penalty area against Palmeiras captain Evandro, Zicarelli cut back toward the top of the box, used another Brazilian defender as a screen to create separation, and curled a rolling shot into the far corner.
Palmeiras controlled more of the ball in the second half, but a 50th-minute red card to Ronatan meant they created few quality scoring chances.

Premier Division
New York Red Bulls 1, LA Galaxy 0
In a battle of two of Major League Soccer's top youth programs, the New York Red Bulls edged the LA Galaxy on Thursday afternoon to reach the championship game of the Generation adidas Cup's Premier Division.
While New York controlled the game from the start, it took a second-half red card to put them ahead on the scoreboard. Nine minutes after the Galaxy were reduced to 10 players, Red Bulls winger Rodrigo D'Andrea broke into the penalty area and fed forward Brian Saramago, who took an excellent first touch onto his left foot and calmly slotted past goalkeeper Eric Lopez.
With four saves for the game, Lopez was able to keep LA in it, and Salvador Segura and Patrick Muprhy were the keys to several late LA chances, but the Red Bulls held on to reach the Premier Division final.

Independiente Medellín 2, Sagan Tosu 0
Colombian club Independiente Medellín continued their strong run through the tournament with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Japanese club Sagan Tosu in the Premier Division's other semifinal.
Out-running, out-passing and out-dribbling their opponents, Independiente took the lead in the 32nd minute. Playmaker Ivan Mora played a brilliant outside-of-the-foot pass from the center circle into the path of forward Naisir Carmona running into the penalty area, and he lifted it over charging goalkeeper Taisei Sato just before the two collided.
Out-shooting Sagan Tosu 13-4 for the game, Independiente wrapped things up in the 67th minute, when Jhon Gutiérrez headed in the rebound of a Carlos Castro shot.
