CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, December 11, 2006) - LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan, defender Troy Roberts, goalkeeper Lance Friesz and Miss L.A. Galaxy court member Audrey, along with a number of Galaxy front office staff, were on hand at Build-a-Bear in Downtown Disney, to assist in building 100 "Soccer Santa" teddy bears. This was the second straight year in which the Galaxy participated in this event, with all bears being given to patients at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles later this week.
After building an efficient assembly line that was composed of Donovan stuffing bears, Roberts dressing the stuffed bears with soccer jersey's and shorts, and Friesz adding the final touches of a cleats and shin guards, the LA Galaxy Foundation met its goal of building all 100 bears.
The 100 hand-crafted bears will be delivered on Thursday to patients at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles by Galaxy players such as Donovan, Alan Gordon and Peter Vagenas. In addition, players and staff will also distribute Galaxy goodies, while also signing autographs and take pictures with patients and their families.
