Forward Carlos Ruiz expected to miss three weeks with injury

FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas announced today that Carlos Ruiz has been ruled out for the next three weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade Two strain of his right hamstring by club medical staff. Ruiz suffered the injury early in the first half of FC Dallas' 2-1 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. He was replaced in the 16th minute by David Wagenfuhr who went on to score the game-winning goal for the Hoops.

The 26-year old Guatemalan International currently leads the team with eight goals and five assists in 16 games this season. Earlier this season, Ruiz tied the MLS record by scoring a goal in seven consecutive games between May 6 and June 11. The eight goals currently place Ruiz in fourth place amongst the MLS goal scoring leaders.

Additionally, the club announced that forward Roberto Mina will undergo surgery on Wednesday morning at Baylor Medical Center to repair a torn medial meniscus in his left knee, which he injured in the game against D.C. United on Tuesday, July 4. Because of the surgery, Mina is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.
