Fire history vs. New England
Sunday's deadlock between the Fire and Revolution did nothing to settle the stalemate in the all-time regular season series against the Eastern Conference foes, which now stands at 6-6-5. Although the Fire has registered a respectable 3-4-1 record in Foxboro, Gillette Stadium has been unkind to the "Men in Red" as of late, with the Fire dropping a pair of contests at New England last season. The Fire first lost a 3-0 result on May 17, but the worst was yet to come as Chicago suffered its worst loss in series history on Aug. 30 when it fell victim to a Chris Brown hat trick in a 5-1 defeat to the Revolution.
Armas to be inducted into Long Island Rough Riders hall of fame Tuesday
Midfielder Chris Armas will take a different route to New England from his teammates, as the Fire captain will return to his first professional club this evening, when he will be inducted into the hall of fame of the United Soccer League (USL) Pro Soccer League's (PSL) Long Island Rough Riders. The Brentwood, N.Y., native will be inducted into the Rough Riders hall of fame during halftime of "The Battle for New York," pitting the PSL side against the MetroStars at the Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. During his two seasons with the Rough Riders, Armas led the club in scoring in its inaugural season in 1994 and helped the club to its first USISL Championship in 1995 before departing for a career in MLS.
