AMSTERDAM — Aarhus GF playmaker Benny Feilhaber's representative says his
client is again taking plenty of calls from interested clubs, with a
Mexican league power among the pre-transfer window frontrunners for his services.
The 25-year-old US international will run out of contract with the Danish second-division leaders next summer.
Feilhaber, who has often stated his desire to move to a more challenging
league, also has a non-sporting incentive to look for a new club in
another country. Danish tax laws for foreigners will see his rate climb
from 25 percent to 60 percent next year.
"There's a few things going on with Benny," Feilhaber's agent, Lyle
Yorks, told MLSsoccer.com by phone. "There's one discussion with a team in
Europe, and also a big club in Mexico. There's also interest in Germany, one club in the Netherlands and in Denmark, but we will just have to see where it goes."
AGF, who lead the 1.Division by five points at the extended winter
break, have been willing since last summer to offload the US
midfielder for the right price.
This season, Feilhaber has four goals and seven assists in league play, with another three strikes coming the Ekstra Bladet Cup.
AGF return to action with a March 20 visit from Hobro.
