FC Dallas’ search for scoring help has landed them “The Cobra.”
FCD have signed forward Zdenek Ondrasek from Polish first-division side Wisła Krakow using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), the club announced Tuesday.
The 29-year-old Czech will occupy an international spot on Dallas’ roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Ondrášek was transferred to Wisła Krakow in 2016, where he has appeared in 66 matches in the Ekstraklasa, scoring 20 goals and nine assists. He has also scored one goal and one assist in three Polish Cup matches.
After missing the entire 2017-18 season with an Achilles injury, Ondrasek scored 11 goals in 19 appearances this season, including a brace in a 2-1 win over Wisla Plock just last Friday.
Ondrasek, who earned three caps for the Czech Republic U-21 national team in 2011, started his professional career in the Czech first division with Ceske Budejovice in 2007, appearing in 81 matches and scoring 22 goals in five seasons. In 2009, he did a short-loan stint with FK Caslav in the Czech third division, where he scored four goals in 14 appearances.
In 2012, Ondrasek was loaned to Norwegian first-division club Tromsø IL, where he had an impressive debut, scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Fredrikstad FK after being subbed on in the 31st minute. Tromsø IL signed him to a contract until 2015. He had 85 appearances in the Eliteserien league, 25 appearances in 1.divisjon, a second-division league, 13 appearances in the Norwegian Football Cup and 19 appearances in Europa League matches. He scored 55 goals and 17 assists across all competitions for Tromsø IL.
