Grapevine, Tex. - FC Dallas downed the DFW Tornados of the PDL (Premier Development League) by a 4-0 final on Tuesday evening at Grapevine Mustang/Panther Stadium. The two teams played a full 90-minute match with the FC Dallas lineup listed below.

During the first half of play on a hot evening at Grapevine Mustang/Panther Stadium, Abe Thompson had a few early chances on nice feeds that he just put over the net. However, in the 28th minute, Thompson was fouled in the box after making a nice run and chipping the ball just wide of the left post. The penalty kick was then taken by Arturo Alvarez who slammed it home for a 1-0 lead.
In the 31st minute, Alvarez made a few fancy moves dribbling around Tornado defenders and found Mario Torres who turned and ripped the ball into the lower right side of the net for a 2-0 lead. To close out the scoring in the first half, Torres made a beautiful run through the Tornado defense and dished a touch pass to Thompson who centered the ball to Alex Woods that he banged home nicely for a 3-0 lead in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Roberto Mina made an amazing run through three DFW defenders in the 55th minute. After passing the ball to Torres, who one-timed a give and go back to Mina on a touch pass, Mina was fouled seven yards out. Alvarez stepped up again to take the penalty kick of which he drove into the Tornado keeper who made a nice save going to his right.
The final score came in the 71st minute when Chux Nwogu from Nigeria possessed a DFW turnover deep in their defensive end. Nwogu then turned and hammered a shot that the goalkeeper dove to make a save on. The keeper could not gather the rebound though and Thompson chipped the ball over the goalkeeper for the 4-0 lead.
FC Dallas will be back at training tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday at Blue Sky beginning at 10 a.m. The team will then practice on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Blue Sky before departing for their match with DC United on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CST). The match will be broadcast on FSN Southwest.
